Here I am at you with my third income and traffic report! So this is the end of my fifth month and I hope writing these somebody gains something from them. So this month was completely different from the last couple because I completely changed my strategy for how I grew my blog.

Since last month my traffic took a big hit I had to reevaluate how I was going to approach things this month. Things were a lot different this month because my creativity was back since my daughter was back from her summer vacation so I was able to knock out more posts and how I promoted my blog I went about that in a different way this month as well.

Also if your new to this blog and would like to subscribe and see my posts as soon as I publish them then you can do that by entering your email in the subscription box at the top of the screen.

Posts:

So when it comes to posts I actually wrote more than I normally do since my creativity was back. I personally wrote 5 and I had 1 guest post. Still they all stay long posts because I try to write longer valuable posts. You should know by now I don’t want to write just 1,000 posts that are short just to keep things fresh on the page. My goal is quality over quantity. You will notice I do my best to get 1-2 new posts a week but this month I got more than that posted.

I did have a hiccup with my posts because I had to make a change in the permalink. This ended up killing all of my pins on Tailwind as well as all the links in all of my posts, which gave me a lot of added work. It was worth it to do now because if I waited a year to do it I would have A LOT more posts to fix.

Traffic:

Traffic picked up from last month which was nice to see. Considering that July ended so low the only way I could go was up.

I decided to minimize using Facebook groups unlike what I mentioned in the previous traffic/income report. I only choose certain topics that I feel will benefit my blog instead of trying to do everything in all the groups.

Like I said above I started pushing Tailwind hard and if you want to learn more about it check this out: Grow Your Blog Like A Boss With Tailwind! If you are in the right tribes you can potentially have a blogger with a great following share your pin and lots of people can see it. I am starting to see results from it and its amazing. If you don’t have Tailwind yet go check it out! CLICK HERE

So I feel like the best way to track your site stats is Google Analytics. This month has literally been a roller coaster ride. I got my first bump from Tailwind in the middle of the month and I was excited. My traffic then stayed above what it was. I then realized I needed to make a change to my permalinks which hurt my traffic at the end of the month. I still have a ways to go to reach my long term goal of getting to 25,000 sessions. I have this goal because that’s what Mediavine wants for you to join them. August I ended with 2,200 sessions which was down 2% from the month before. Not bad considering all the changes that I have made over the month.

Social Media:

So this month I pushed hard on my Facebook page because I really wanted to get that going. Let’s be honest I was sick of seeing it under 100. Also since I was pushing Tailwind so hard Pinterest was still my main focus.

Pinterest:

With the help of Tailwind I have seen a steady growth with my Pinterest. I currently have 2,400+ followers on Pinterest and growing. I now have two group board which I pour my love into Bloggers Helping Bloggers and Lifestyle Repinned. Below I have the stats from Pinterest showing how I have done on Pinterest compared to last month.

Traffic stats from pinterest

Facebook:

I now have 259 followers on my The Million Dollar Dad Facebook page. That is up 230 from the month before!! This page I try to post to any time I make a new post. I would love all new readers to follow my facebook page. You can do that by clicking the link above.

Email:

This was where I was struggling the most until I started pushing Tailwind. I only had 2 subscribers before I pushed my efforts with Tailwind and now I am up to 16! I still haven’t figured out what to do with this because I haven’t put together the freebie that I have been trying to come up with.

Twitter:

I don’t put much focus here other that I share a lot of my posts here. I currently have 1,260 followers on Twitter. Sad to say I have actually lost followers on here this month…

Instagram:

So I try posting here daily but I don’t always get a chance to. When I get a new post done I post it to let my followers know. This month I have been lucky and have gotten a nice growth on this platform. I have tried to more than just motivational quotes this month. I still haven’t figured out what my followers like but I have at least gained followers. So I am currently at 856 followers on Instagram. That is up 196 from last month just a little less than Facebook.

LinkedIn:

So I have grown this for a very long time and now have 6,623 connections on LinkedIn. I use this similar to Facebook and Instagram and post mainly when I have a new post. I don’t use this much but I am up 29 connections from last month. I still haven’t figured out what my followers like to see on this platform though.

Income:

So I definately am not a blogger who has gotten rich quick. I know that you will see some that have make a lot of money fast. Most of the time that is just luck and luck doesnt last. I firmly believe that to have an amazing blog you need to build a great foundation and that takes time.

In August I did make $9.16 in ads, down from $20.70 from the month before. So that was annoying considering that the whole month this time I actually had my ads working. Last month they were only working for half the month.

I did have one affiliate sales (kind of). Someone joined Tailwind through one of my links. So because they did that I $15 for that new Tailwind user I referred because they must haver upgraded to plus! Also what is cool is that person got $15 when they signed up, so it was a win-win!

Goals For August:

Achieve 5000 total sessions on my blog. (UNSUCCESFUL): I was not even close on this one. It was barely over 2,000

Reach 200,000 unique monthly views on Pinterest. (UNSUCCESFUL): I dropped to 93k then got back up to 154k so good but not great.

Gain a total of 10 followers on Facebook page (SUCCESSFUL!) This one I was surprised on because I got almost 200 new followers.

Grow Email subscribers to 10 total subscribers. (SUCCESSFUL!) Another pleasant surprise here with almost 15 new subscribers

Get to 2750 total followers on Pinterest (SUCCESFUL) I almost thought I wasn’t going to get this because toward the end of the month I took a dip where I was losing fans. Yet I just barely did hit it!!

Get to 800 followers on Instagram (SUCCESSFUL!) Finally I got out of the 700s and pushed almost to the 900s!!

Goals For September:

Achieve 5000 total sessions on my blog.

Reach 200,000 unique monthly views on Pinterest.

Gain a total of 300 followers on Facebook page

Grow Email subscribers to 20 total subscribers.

Get to 3000 total followers on Pinterest

Get to 1000 followers on Instagram

My main focus is going to be Pinterest and email. I am going to continue to push Tailwind because I feel that with pushing that my blog will grow the most and it will really grow those and I can really be successful!
